Many Thanks and Seasons best wishes to everyone who has supported the Sanctuary this year!!!
Well it has been very busy at Hallswood. A few of the animals that have come in are two dogs that were destined to be put to sleep if Hallswood did not take them, a huge number of cats and kittens along with the usual wildlife.
This close to Christmas many animals find themselves homeless or in distress. The most touucing story is a very recent one only last night a lovley couple helped save a baby muntjack deer barely 24hours old.
Seen running in traffic for around an hour finally it was picked up and phone calls made by Sharon and her husband to try and find out what they could do for the little baby. One individual offered to shoot it, another unknown rescue said they should return it and "let nautre take it's course", and the RSPCA siad they would pick it up but would put it to sleep.
Luckily they found the number for Hallswood and last night Lyz went and collected the poor mite in Leiston as soon as she heard of its plight.
Now at around 26 hours old this little one is safe, running a bit of a temperature so is on antibiotics but is feeding very well. Hopefully you can follow the progress of the baby muntjack on our blog.
Bryn a seven year old lurcher also arrived this week. His elderly owner could no longer keep him and her son could not take him back after giving him to his mum as a pup. He has been living in a kennel for the last seven years which is 8ft by 6ft. He does no sit and give paw but has no idea what his name is as he does not respond at all to the name he is called on his microchip.
He needs to put on some weight but has a lovely temprement, he is dog friendly and cat workable but of all things on his christmas list is a home where he can be indoors and cherished.
His coat will be long and scruffy when it grows back and he has a lovely face with gentle eyes. He was due to be put to sleep Wednesday the 21st as his owners son was returning to his home out of this country and there was no-one to care for him. Luckily Hallswood stepped in and he is now safe.
These are just two of the many animals helped daily by Hallswood. We value and need your continuing support so we can keep saying YES to taking animals in as many rescues and sanctuaries are now having to shut their doors and turn away needy animals.
Maybe your new years resolutions could be combined with fundraising efforts, sponsored giving up smoking, sponsored walks to help lose the extra mince pies we will all be eating, a few hours volunteering in the Hallswood shop to help raise funds to support the animals, there are many ways you can help.
Have a very Merry Christmas from all here.
